The new arrival of the class of ‘29 had a great experience awaiting for them. Monsters Inc was the DTR theme for the freshmen, which was more focused on the green character, Mike Wazowski. As the freshman class rounds up fellow students to help build floatsites and have people join for the class dance, an anonymous student said, “There’s barely anyone wanting to dress up and be involved with everything. I don’t like how they think it’s too young for us to participate in.” Similar issues have constantly been a problem over time due to the students thinking they’re too old to participate in these types of events and other students washing for people would participate so everyone can just have a good time instead of worrying about what others think about them.

Preparing and planning takes a lot of time. The freshman class used their time everyday after school in the M building and with the help of Ms. Ana. During the walk leading up to the rally, the class of ‘29 had unfortunately no float but their spirit was still there. The rally itself turned out to be a hit with all the students screaming and yelling trying to earn class points for participating and many dancers were involved in the class dance. A few students were interviewed after the rally, and here were some thoughts after their first DTR:
“I really hated walking in the sun because it was so hot and my voice started to hurt.”
“I loved it, I enjoyed watching all the dances and laughing at all the games”
“My outfit was so cute, so I didn’t care that we lost”
“Live, Laugh, Love DTR!”
Although they got 4th place overall, students said they had lots of fun and will start to look forward to it every year. Good luck next year, Class of 29!
