What is YEP?

Struggling to learn how to drive? Having difficulty earning college credits? The Youth Enrichment Program (YEP) offers support and resources for students looking to improve their skills and enhance their educational journey.

Established recently, the YEP focuses on the educational development of students before and/or after school. The program promotes cognitive and social growth through various activities and initiatives. The core values of YEP include Equity, Efficiency, Diversity, Culture of Learning, and Integrity.

YEP at Hayward High focuses on helping students adapt and learn at their own pace, no matter their individual skills. The program is dedicated to using effective practices to ensure that all participants can reach their goals, as long as they’re willing to put in the effort. With a diverse student body, YEP emphasizes inclusivity, creating a supportive atmosphere where students can build resilience and thrive.

YEP taps into community knowledge, gathers data, and uses a trial-and-error approach to make things better. The program also prioritizes student integrity, with clear policies in place to address harmful behavior and ensure appropriate consequences. By focusing on these areas, YEP not only supports academic success but also fosters a safe and respectful environment for everyone at Hayward High.

In addition to educational support, YEP offers a Driver’s Education program for students aged 15 and older. This program prepares students for a Driver’s Training Certificate by utilizing modern animations, videos, and web technology to streamline the learning process.

To enroll, students are encouraged to visit the YEP room in F-8 and also speak with their counselors in the Admin Hall in order to get started. For students seeking to enhance their driving skills, earn college credits, and build community connections, the Youth Enrichment Program is poised to provide valuable support.
