Most times, nostalgia comes in forms through grief, excitement, remembrance, and belonging. On many occasions, the melancholy feeling is captured in memories, replaying on loop. Fortunately for some, nostalgia can be the form of a show that can be entered on a white rectangular border labeled as “Next Episode.” However, as the season closes off, it’s bittersweet to watch the characters exit in the end, whether they got the ending they deserve or not. Season 5 has been a rollercoaster.
After years of waiting for that new season, there have been multiple sources of theories found on the website. Though evidently, those theories seem to be spreading virally on social media as the season ended, due to fans not liking the ending. The Duffer Brothers (writers of the show) along with cast members have been hyping up volumes 1-3 for the past few months, and honestly when we first watched the trailer, it felt a sense of nostalgia.
What happened in season 5 will just be memorable because it’s the end; however, fans have been up upon the “Conformity Gate Theory”
Which honestly sounds crazy and also delusional just from the last episode had more potential, but the theories of a secret episode happening is possible. Others have dismissed the theory as “mass psychosis”. Debating whether the Duffer Brothers are smart and keeping in contact with their storylines, the fans have been absorbed in spotting plot holes.
Arguably, season 5 volume 1 was definitely worth the hype mainly because of the cliffhanger towards the end with Will getting powers. The scene was just waiting and character buildup. A lot could also say something about volume 2, which was preferably good too. Especially with the scenes of Max who was in a coma by the end of season 4 and the start of season 5, conscious in Vecna’s mindscape alongside with Holly Wheeler who’s character gotten more screentime in regards to the plot. It was amazing to see that the characters were able to progress more and take initiative in saving Hawkins, but it was also mournful in losing what had progressed over the season, like the ship Jonathan and Nancy. Their breakup scene left their fans confused. But it was way more melancholy to watch Eleven being in just a short part of the group’s lives, but the group was her whole life.
